Hi there! I am Rachel, formerly known as the designer behind the Steel City Scraps name! I am still that name online in forums and galleries, and I also go by rachnmaddie in some galleries. I am delighted you have taken the time to check out  my site and my blog.

So, a little about me? I am a thirty something, mom of two girls. A wifey-poo to Mike for nearly ten years now. I am born, raised and residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I love my Steelers and my Pens!!!! I work as a substitute teacher so that I can be home most days with my girls, and boy is that the perfect job! I also teach computer courses as a local community college. In my ‘former life’, I was a dance and musical theater major at a local creative and performing arts school *imagine Fame* (there I just showed my age).

In real life, I enjoy spending time at our lake side cottage with my family in the summers. I have weird obsessions like Willy Wonka and just about any musical.  I enjoy staying in touch with many friends from my past from elementary school to college. You are likely to find me playing with my girls and spending time with my family. We love amusement parks and carnivals, farmers markets and festivals and just relaxing! Of course, if its yucky outside or winter time, I am typically digital scrapbooking.

I retired from digital design in February 2010 when I just felt disconnected from my ‘real life’.  I still love it, and will still be making freebies for you here on the blog from time to time. But now I am creating scrapbook pages for fun and I am on some really great creative teams! I am really lucky to have found some amazing friends in this industry.

The one thing that continues to amaze me about this community is the level of respect and the friendships that can still be experienced while you are in a virtual world here on the good ol’ internet. If I never made a dime from selling my designs, it would still be worth the time and energy spent simply because of the amazing people I got to meet, get to know and grow to love here in the digital scrapping world.
